Preventive Action

Preventive action can be applied in all phases of conflict and is a first step to stop violence and diffuse tension. It includes measures such mediation, conflict resolution, negotiation, and the design and implementation of preventive socio-economic development programmes. Importantly, such efforts involve significant preparation, networking and relationship building, as well as process design.

We design and apply preventive action measures to a range of conflict situations. These include intra- and inter-community conflicts, conflicts between corporations and communities, conflicts between armed non-state actors and governments, and disputes between businesses and their labour force.

We will consider applying our preventive action capabilities in locations outside our areas of geographical expertise on a case-by-case basis. Aside from war-affected countries, in Western Europe and North America, we are able to provide such services for disputes between communities. We cover effectively Scandinavia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Canada, and the United States.
